Plot
The Duttons faced a new set of challenges in the early 20th century, including the rise of Westward Expansion, Prohibition, and the Great Depression. While the American Great Depression began in 1929, it began early in Montana. The Great Depression began in Montana in 1918, nearly 10 years before the rest of the nation. Between drought and reduced demand for agricultural products due to the end of the "Great War" (also known as World War I, from 1914 to 1918), many farmers suffered greatly.
By 1925, 70,000 of Montana’s 82,000 homesteaders had left
As a result, Montana farmers could not repay their war loans, leading to widespread bankruptcies across the state. Between 1921-1925, half of Montana farmers lost their land. In addition, 200 banks in Montana failed. Not only were crops affected by the drought, but it was also accompanied by a locust invasion and livestock succumbing to disease.
This series is simply incredible!
Featured in Timeless Heroes: Indiana Jones and Harrison Ford (2023). A continuation of the stepping stone from the 1883 series. Every single member of the cast is convincing and I felt like I was there with them in every scene. Helen Mirren has long been a favorite of mine and she does not disappoint.
These precursors to Yellowstone are carefully crafted
Harrison Ford also does an outstanding job portraying his role. The rest of the cast is so well complimented. Many lives and stories skillfully woven into a masterpiece. 1883 and 1923 will be seen often in this house.
